There’s a Lesson to be learned in the Trees

Peace song inspired by Herman Hesse's "Wandering" and Pete Seeger's "If you want to have great love, you've got to have great anger". In one sense it is about renewal. But as it was written in 1968, during the Vietnam war, when I was 16, it is also about our responsibility to try to stop the killing. maybe it was also a reaction at that time to the 'hippies' around me who truned on and dropped out.

There's a lesson to be learned in the trees
Go to the forest
Go and you will see it
And when you return, when you return
You'll pass it around
The trees live and we should see that children live too
And when children die
Then we must be there
To turn death around
Armed only with love and anger
There's a lesson to be learned in the trees
They love with Emerald wonder
Now go out from the forest
And bring back all the wounded

Readers Feedback:
  1. It is very important that we all do what we can for peace.  We the citizens of the world will be the ones that make it happen.  Peace begins inside, From there, with heart and purpose it can spread across the planet.  Imagine peace in your heart spreading to cover the planet.
