ブッシュ米大統領は１月28日の一般教書演説で、「イラク武装解除」のための武力攻撃を強く主張しました。しかし、フランス、ロシア、中国といった国連安保理常任理事国やドイツ、中東諸国など世界の多くの国々は、これに対して批判を強め、同調するのはイギリスや日本を含めてわずかにすぎません。

いま、アメリカの横暴に反対する市民は全世界で行動を起こし、1月18日には約40ヵ国以上で100万人以上の人々が「イラク攻撃反対」の声をあげました。
日本においても日比谷公園で開催された「WORLD PEACE NOW 1.18」には、約7,000名の分野や世代を超えた市民が参加し、全国でも約30都市でこの統一 行動に参加するアクションが繰り広げられました。この動きは同日のTVや翌日の国内各紙のみならず、全世界で報道されました。

こういった声が全世界に広がりつつあるにもかかわらず、アメリカのイラク攻撃の危険性は日を追って現実のものとなろうとしています。こうした状況をなんとかくい止めようと、ロンドンの「STOP戦争連合」が2.15国際共同行動を呼びかけました。
私たちはこの呼びかけに応え、アメリカの戦争政策と、それを支持する小泉内閣に抗議し、2月15日、平和のための行動を起こします。

なお、この日の私たちの行動は「戦争よりも祭りを！イラク訪問団　喜納昌吉＆ チャンプルーズ　ピースコンサート in イラク」にも連携しています。

President Bush insisting that U.S. would attack IRAQ to disarm Saddam Hussein in his State of the Union address, Tue, Jan. 18. However, many countries including Middle East, Germany and the permanent member of the UN Security Council such as France, Russia and China criticize U.S. war drive. So only few coutries such as U.K. and Japan stand for Bush.

Now, citizens all over the country stand up against U.S. tyranical warmonger. On Jan. 18, over a million people cried “No to Attack on IRAQ” in more than 40 countries. In Japan, about 7,000 citizens of various fields and generations participated WORLD PEACE NOW Jan. 18 at Hibiya park in Tokyo. There were also same kind of joint actions in about 30 cities in Japan. TV and news paper reported anti war joint actions in Japan and world scale.

In spite of anti war actions spreading worldwide, U.S. attack on IRAQ is drawing to a crisis day by day. Therefore Stop the War Coalition in London called for world-wide day of demonstrations on 15 February against the prospect of war. We support this appeal and will hold acitons for peace to protest against U.S. war drive and its supporter; Koizumi government in Japan.

“Hi. If anyone is in Kansai or knows people in Kansai, you might be
interested to know that there is a pro-peace/ant-war rally scheduled for 4PM
on Feb 15th at Ogimachi Koen. Closest station is a 3 minute walk from JR
Loop Line (Kanjo-sen)—Tenma Station.

Details are sketchy—I’m still trying to find out more specifics, but I
know that both Green Peace Japan & EWA (Education Workers Union) will be in
attendance.”
