April 21, 2017 by tokyoprogressive Leave a Comment

The following is an unedited facebook post by a Korean activist fighting planned THAAD deployment on Jeju. Okinawan activists will note how similar the behavior of the riot police is to that of Japanese riot police sent to Takae and Henoko to suppress anti helipad and anti base protests.

Original post is here:

Fwd: [April 20] The summary of the day.. video by TheImpeter

Around 6:53 am, three heavy USA equipment attempted to make entry [into the former LCC, planned area for THAAD deployment] nearby the Peace Valley (Backside of the village). During the protest to it, there was the 1st clash and two heavy equipments made entries.
And around 8pm, a MND (Ministry of National Defense) vehicle made entry in the Jinbatgyo, the entrance to the LCC. In the process of big clash, two villagers were injured and a person was carried to hospital. At that time, in the village located below the Jinbatgyo, police set up wall with the vehicles. The police made entries and controlled the village entrance. They also carried into the two heavy equipment and provisional toilets for the construction workers.
While people’s concern is focused on May 9 Presidential election and President candidates are maing argument on the con and pro of THAAD, the ROK and US authorities are illegally enforcing the process for the deployment of THAAD. (Video by TheImpeter )

Original Korean post from which this video came:

온 국민의 관심이 19대 대선에 있고, 대통령 후보자들이 사드배치 찬반 논쟁을 한 다음 날
미군은 장비를 투입했고, 경찰은 차벽을 치고 성주 주민들을 막았다.
결국 주민들은 쓰러졌고, 강제 연행됐다.
박근혜가 구속됐지만, 아직 대한민국은 바뀌지 않았다.
