カッワーリー（イスラム教の宗教歌謡）は概して穏やかに始まり、徐々に激しさを増し、最後はすさまじいエネルギーをはきだすまでのぼりつめる……。
「天国は我が内にあり…我は星々に落ち入るまでそれに気付かざりき。」

この文は主にG８の連中に向けられている。そこでは感情の死や不快感があんまりにもひどいので、抗鬱剤すら鬱になってしまっている。そしてここ日本ではそれらが輪をかけてひどいので、ひょっとすると自分たちは特別なんじゃないかなんて考えてしまう。
資本主義とは、ごく少数の連中が残りの大多数を犠牲にしていい生活をおくる政治的、経済的、文化的体制だ。資本主義とは、ただ利益のために君、私、木々、魚、動物、水、空気をぶち壊す（そして無常にもG8の国々によって進められる）体制だ。
あるいはもし望むなら、ヒルを思い浮かべてみたっていい。
資本主義の一つの力は我々をお互いから孤立させてしまう能力にある。我々が「社会」であろうと、集団であろうと、まとまって行動していようと、我々個人はさびしく孤立している。
資本主義の主な生産物は、空虚（全てを包括する底なしの空虚）、疎外、そして希望のかけらもない絶望だ。あらゆる恐怖と、一握りのキャンディーを駆使して 誰もがやりたくない仕事を奴隷のようにこなすことを我々に強制することによって、資本主義は想像力、夢、望み、希望を持つための我々の肉体的、精神的な力 を奪っていく……その後、資本主義は我々から奪った物を改めてパッケージにつめこみ我々に売り戻してくる。そして我々は自分たちの本質を欠いたまま自分た ちの盗まれた破片を買い戻すことによって、自分たちの人生の空虚―最初から資本主義によって作られたのだが―を埋めようとする……なんという空虚か。そし て我々は決して満たされたと感じず、ショッピングを続けるよう になってしまう。
言うまでもなく、最終的に我々に残されるのはゴミの山と空虚さだけなのだ（日本では年間３００００人自殺者がいる。彼らは自ら命を絶った不幸な人々だ。原因は何だ？）。
ここまで気の滅入るようなことばかり書いてきたので、そろそろ明るい話題に入るとしよう。
数週間前に私は資本主義に復讐し、ぶちのめしてしまおうという素晴らしい、とてもラディカルなドキュメンタリー映画を見た。その映画はフランクリン・ロペス監督の「END：CIV Resist or Die」（素晴らしい名前だ！）といい、その中に一つのとても短いシーンがあった。フルスクリーンで、こう文字が出る。「我慢なんてくそくらえ！」……しかしこの映画を観る前に、そしてこの映画をよりよく理解するために、チャールズ・H・ファーガソン監督の「INSIDE JOB」という映画を見た方がいい。金持ちになり、権力を持つということがいかに馬鹿げていて、弱々しく下らないかわかるだろう。
上に私は希望のない絶望は資本主義の主な生産物だと書いた。しかし、ちょっと違う……希望はあるのだ……よりよい世界、よりよい生活、我々自身の生活への希望が。
希望は反乱にひそんでいる。
アルベール・カミュは彼の「反抗的人間」において、反乱とは我慢の限界から来るものであり、誰もがやるか誰もやらないか、全てを掴むか全てを無くすかにかかっている、と書いている。
我々は十分我慢してきたか？残念ながら、もし我々がもう少しでも待っていたなら、我々はこん睡してしまうだろう。
もし我々が希望とは外、我々の外部にあると考えるなら、そうだろう、もはや希望はない……その意味では、希望とは資本主義の私有財産なのだ。しかしもし 我々が我々自身を希望の種だとみなすなら、我々は空にだって駆け上れる。種として、花になり咲き誇るためには、われわれはお互いを撒き、お互いに水をやら ねばならない。我々の絶望は、我々の生活を空虚で埋め尽くす資本主義によって引き起こされ、またお互いへの不信感に基盤を置いている。

これこそ芸術の起源だ。資本主義体制によって保有され我々の日常生活からは切り離され、美術館に閉じ込められた馬鹿高い自己中心的な芸術なんてものの話を しているわけではない。美術館へ行くための電車賃や食費もままならず、路上で生活している人たちにとってそんな芸術に何の意味がある？今、私が話している のは我々一人一人全ての人の芸術のことだ。私は、我々はみんな芸術家であると強く信じている。
我々はみんな知性と想像力を持っている。ピカソは、我々が想像できるものは全て現実だと我々に教えてくれた。なぜごく少数の人のみが芸術家に「なれる」の だ？誰が才能のある人とない人を決めるのだ？メディア？芸術「収集家」？国家？芸術家に「なれた」者たち？芸術「評論家」？
私にとって芸術、創造とは、常に他人とつながることや、生活（人生ではなくて。人生は美しいが大勢の他人のために生きると大体つまらなくなる！）をより美 しくすることや、悲惨な地球のために生活の質を向上させることであってきたし、またそうあるべきだ。芸術は我々、地球、そして社会正義にのっとらねばなら ない。
「全ての人類、男性も女性も、が平等に自由になって初めて私は完全に自由になる。他人の自由とは、私の自由を否定したり制限したりするどころか、逆に、必要不可欠な前提であり結論であるのだ。」

いつ、どのようにして我々はこのような深い絶望や感情の死へと陥ってしまったのか？あまりにも無感情なので、他人が貧乏になり、年間数万人もの人が自殺 し、街角で飢えと寒さに苦しんでいるの人々がいるのを放っておけるのか？私が思うには、悪魔と契約をむすんだ数人のファウスト博士が我々を（そして他人 を、そしてこの惑星のほとんどを）資本主義体制に売り渡した時にそれは起こったのだ。資本主義体制においては、人々は自分勝手で欲にまみれていく。なぜな ら、（映画「ウォール街」の主人公）ゴードン・ゲッコーの言葉を借りるなら、欲はいいものだからだ！
ではそれと引き換えに我々は何を得たか？一握りの金、快適さ、それと「安全」か？
それでは、我々は今幸せか？
しかし、まだ遅くはない。常に三銃士の「皆は一人のために、一人は皆のために」を思い出そう。70億銃士なんてどうだろう？
我々は必要以上のものは必要ないのだ。壁画アーティストのバンクシ―によれば（そしてカール・マルクスの延長線上では）我々には４つの基本的な必需品がある。すなわち食事、睡眠、セックス、そして……復讐だ！
そうだ！復讐だ！我々は富める者、権力者から全てをとり返さなければならない！
アロンアルファがほんのちょっとあれば、巨大で高性能な機械なんてすぐにダメにしてしまえるなんてことを何人の人が知っているだろうか？
資本主義体制が我々の心、頭脳、そして地球から略奪することに我々は終止符をうたねばならない。ルイ・オーギュスト・ブランキのように、資本主義を滅ぼした後の計画は考えすぎないようにしよう……そんなことは後になればなんとかなる。
繰り返しにはなるが、我々は全員が芸術家でなければならない。我々は人間性を保つため、行動の内に芸術が必要だ。

我々には創造性が必要だ。友達と家で火炎瓶を作りながら第九を聞く。これは立派な芸術だ。ミハイル・バクーニンが言っている。この世界の全てのものはいつか消えてしまう。しかし第九だけは残るだろう。
もう一つバクーニンから引用しよう。「破壊への情熱は創造への情熱でもある。」
これらの引用は元の文脈から外れているだとか言う人がいるかもしれない。まったくその通り！だからどうした？私は引用に新たな文脈を作ってやっているのだ……ちょっとしたdetournement（横領）だ、ちょうど状況主義者みたいに。
まったく、世界中の何十億もの人々は文脈から外されてしまっている！我々の美しい地球は金持ちと権力者どもによって文脈から外されてしまっている！
だから、誰か復讐しないか？
END:CIVの終わりにはラップ音楽が流れる。Test Their LogikのGet Into Itだ。
「さぁ入りこむんだ
どっちの側につくんだ
やらなきゃならない

そういうことだ。これで終わり。今回モーリス・ラヴェルの「ボレロ」とイスラム宗教音楽カッワーリーを結びつけて、初めは穏やかに、そして徐々に激しく、そんな響きになるようにこの文を書いてみた。私には人生はそんな風に聞こえるからだ。

This piece is addressed mainly to peoples in the G8 where there is such apathy and such mal de vivre, malaise if you like that it makes Prozac depressed. And here in Japan it’s so bad that you end up feeling special.
Capitalism is a political, economic, cultural system in which a small group of people have good lives at the expense of the rest of us. It is a system (ruthlessly promoted by the G8 countries) that will destroy you, me, trees, fish, animals, water, air for the sake of profit.
Or, picture a leech if you will.
One of the strengths of capitalism lies in its ability to isolate us from each other. Although we may be a “society”, a group, and operating with a herd mentality, we are alone and lonely.
Some of capitalism’s main products are emptiness (all encompassing and bottomless emptiness), alienation, despair and hopelessness. By forcing us, through all kinds of fears and with lollipops, to work like slaves at jobs that most of us don’t like, it manages to steal our physical and mental strength which contain our imagination, our dreams, our desires, our hope….After that it (capitalism) repackages them and sells them back to us and we in turn try to fill the emptiness, that capitalism has created in the first place, in our lives by buying back stolen pieces of ourselves devoid of their essence, of us…empty…so that we will never feel full and keep shopping.
Needless to say that at the end of the day all we are left with is a pile of garbage and more emptiness (in Japan there are more than 30 000 suicides a year. Those are not happy people who kill themselves. What’s the cause?).
So far, all this sounds a bit gloomy but here comes the merry part.
A few weeks ago I watched a terrific, very radical documentary about fighting back capitalism, bringing it down, called END:CIV Resist or Die (it is dynamite!) by Franklin Lopez and there is one very short scene, full screen, that says: “FUCK PATIENCE!”….but before watching this, and in order to appreciate it more, you should see INSIDE JOB by Charles H. Ferguson in which our rich and powerful make you feel really stupid, weak and pathetic.
Earlier, I mentioned hopelessness as one of capitalism’s main products. Well, not quite…there is hope…hope for a better world, better lives, our lives.
Hope lies in rebellion.
In his book The Rebel, Albert Camus says that rebellion stems from loss of patience and it is defined by all or nothing, everyone or no one.
Have we been patient enough? I am afraid that if we wait a bit longer, we’ll fall into a coma.
If we think of hope as something outside, external to us, then yes, it’s hopeless…in that sense, hope is the private property of capitalism. But if each of us thinks of oneself as a seed of hope, then even the sky is not the limit. In order to bloom, as a seed, we have to plant each into other and water each other. Our feeling of hopelessness is induced by capitalism through cramming our lives with emptiness and based on lack of faith in each other.

This is where art comes in. Now I am not talking about the kind of art locked up in museums or overpriced selfish art in art galleries owned by our capitalist system and detached from our daily lives. What’s the point of that art for someone who can’t even afford a train ticket to go see it or a meal or who’s sleeping in the street? I am talking about the art that is in each and every one of us because I do believe that we are all artists.
The art of creating happiness, well being, good lives through each other, for each other and with each other. The art of reconnecting with people and earth.
We all have intelligence and imagination. Picasso told us once that everything we can imagine is real. Why is it that only a few “make” it as artists? Who decides who is gifted and who is not? The media? The art “collectors”? The State? The artists who “made” it? The art “critics”?
For me art, creating…has always been and should be about connecting with others, making living (not life because life is beautiful but living for lots of people often sucks!) more beautiful, improving living conditions for the wretched of the earth…it should be about us and earth, about social justice.

How and when did we fall into such depths of despair and apathy? Apathy so deep that we allow people to go poor, kill themselves by tens of thousands every year, hungry and cold on the corners of our own streets? Well, I think it happened when quite a few of us Fausts sold ourselves (and others, and most of the earth) to our capitalist system, a system that encourages us to be selfish and greedy because, in the words of Gordon Gekko (Wall Street 1), greed is good!
And we did it in exchange for what? A bit more money, comfort and “security”?
So, are we happy now?
But I don’t think it’s too late. Just remember: “All for one, one for all!” by the 3 musketeers. How about 7 billion musketeers?
We don’t need much. According to Banksy (and to some extent Karl Marx) there are 4 basic needs; food, sleep, sex and…revenge!
Yes! Revenge! We gotta take it all back from our rich and powerful!
Does anyone have any idea how much damage can be done to a powerful and sophisticated machine by a small tube of super glue?
We gotta put an end to the plunder by our capitalist system of our hearts and minds and of the earth. Just like Louis Auguste Blanqui, let us not be too concerned with plans for after bringing down capitalism…we’ll deal with that later.
For all that we need to become artists again. We need art in action for humanity.

We need creativity. Making Molotov cocktails at home with friends while listening to the Ninth Symphony is art because as Mikhail Bakunin once said, everything will pass and the world will perish but the Ninth Symphony will remain.
That’s right. Art is not only about making something, it’s also about destroying, destroying our monster.
Here is some more Bakunin: “The passion for destruction is also a creative passion”.
One may think that some of these quotes are taken out of context. Damn right! So what?
I am creating a new context for them…it could also be a sort of detournement, just like the Situationists….
Hell, billions of lives of peoples all over the world are taken out of context! Our beautiful earth is taken out of context by our rich and powerful!
So, revenge anyone?

That’s it. I’m done. I tried to write this piece to the sound of Bolero by M. Ravel and connect it to Qawwali music because that’s how living sounds like to me.
